About My Art

I use FireAlpaca for all my digital art and I pretty much only draw fanart (specifically Sanders Sides fanart). Every art piece here are ones that were completed between 2022-now, due to reasons (see below).

A History

Art has meant a lot to me through out my entire life. I started drawing back in 4th grade with Powerpuff Girls fanart. While all my friends were focused on having fun by drawing whatever they wanted, I was having fun in my own weird, nerdy little way. I loved to improve, to get criticised, to do art studies. The main reason I "improved so fast" was because I was focused heavily on learning how to draw.

I continued to draw all the way up to my freshman year of high school, where I entered an abusive relationship at the same time I devloped my chronic illness. Both the effects of an emotionally abusive partner and a disability, in a situation where my father refused to send me to a hospital, hit hard. In my sophmore year, my mom's mother died. She was the one that took care of my siblings while my parents worked. No one else could watch my siblings, and getting a babysitter was too much money, so I (and my little brother) had to take the role of the babysitter.

Combined with a chronic illness that gave me fatigue and worsening pain, and now having my time taken up by school and 2 children, I had to stop drawing. I stopped drawing for 2 entire years. I had to stop taking art classes, because I was struggling so much physically, and while I continued to doodle on my notes in class, I never actually ... drew. And even then, my doodling dwindled down into nothing.

In November 2021, an instagram user by the name "Sage_Tries_To_Art", posted a Sanders Sides DTIYS, or "draw this in your style", of the character Logan Sanders.

And, in January 2022, I posted my submission, "Time's Up". A painting that took around 1 month to complete.

During the time of drawing it, my family and I were struggling with domestic and physical abuse. This DTIYS gave me the motivation to actually draw for the first time in fucking years, and despite it's issues, it is an art piece I am still proud of. Everyone say thank you to my now friend, Sage.

Due to a depressive episode in my senior year of high school, to babysitting now 3 children, and worsening symptoms, I haven't been able to create much else. And with how a lot of social medias are changing and treat artists (Instagram with it's stupid fucking tagging change, it's almost impossible to get noticed on Twitter unless you are posting fanart and getting retweeted by a popular account, no one on Tumblr reblogs shit anymore), I have felt... a little bit bad about posting art anymore. I don't see the point if no one is going to see it.

But, hopefully, I will regain my motivation to draw. It's the least I can do for 14 year old Stingray, who couldn't draw in the middle of ets freshman art class because of how bad ets fatigue was, and 17 year old Stingray, who was struggling with suicidal thoughts and couldn't find the energy to even make it out of bed, let alone draw.
